Salesletter: Tweak Or Start From Scratch?

Right now I’m thinking about overhauling my salesletter for my CB diet product and I’m trying to decide whether I should just tweak what I already have (which is decent and bringing me decent but not great conversion rates) or should I start from scratch and go a totally different route (I’m thinking of going towards a more streamlined “story telling” type approach.)
Right now I’m leaning towards the overhaul. I just think if I do it I should really know what I’m doing before hand. Of course I’ll keep my current salesletter as a back-up in case the new version doesn’t work at all. It really takes testing to know for sure whether anything works or not.
I’m thinking I’m going with the start from scratch way… I have some ideas to try a drastically different style of salesletter to see how it goes (and keep the current one as a backup.)
I’ve made couple more sales at the $77 price which is nice. Affiliates make $50 at that price.
