I haven’t spent a lot of time trying to make money with AdSense as I think that affiliate marketing is a much easier way to make significant income but over the last couple of days one of my websites has got a huge amount of traffic and I’m seeing some record AdSense earnings (for me.)
One of my sites that normally gets about 500 unique visitors per day got some big time viral links and had over 34,000 UV yesterday (ending at midnight and already another 3,000 in the first 2 hours of the next day) and that site made earned most in AdSense earnings I’ve had today (there’s actually some time left until 3 AM which is when my AdSense day is officially over so I’ve even got an outside shot at $100.)
Now if I had 34,000 unique visitors to some of my affiliate sites I would have made an absolute fortune, of course for most of those sites there’s really not that much traffic available. With the type of site that’s getting this huge amount of UV today, there’s really no affiliate programs I could advertise profitably (I don’t think so anyway.)
Anyway - I’m definitely happy to be making some nice income with AdSense today but I don’t expect this huge traffic spike to last too long. My webhost seems to be able to barely handle it anyway, it’s gone down a couple of times that I know of. Who knows how many UV I’ve missed because of that?

From July 3.
From August 3.
So how did I do this month? Well… Here’s my current EZ screenshot:

I made a goal of 200 new articles from August 3, I didn’t close to reaching that goal because I’ve been thrown off my routine completely by my move. I’m still trying to get back into a groove with work and with article writing in particular.
Here are my #s over the last month:
New Live Articles: 63 (105 the month before)
New Article Views: 21,551 (18,975 the month before)
New URL Clicks: 4,346 (4,459 the month before)
CTR: 20% (23% the month before)
New Articles Published: 55 (148 the month before)
Overall somewhat disappointing numbers, although I do like that I continue to get a pretty steady stream URL clicks even though I’ve only uploaded 1 new article over the past few weeks.
This month I want to pick up where I left off with my EZineArticles experiment and also try some other new ideas with how to use EZ successfully.

$4007 for August is an upswing of about $500 from last month so I am happy with that. But earlier in the month I was hoping to reach the $5000 mark as things were moving along at that rate but my income slowed down quite a bit towards the second half of the month probably mostly because I haven’t really done much work over the last 2 to 3 weeks as I’ve been so busy with moving and getting settled into my own place.
I’m now pretty much set to get things going again and again my #1 focus is going to be my diet program. I believe it could be my ticket to substantial income if I can get the conversions as high as they need to be.

I’ve not updated this blog (or been posting much on DP) lately because I’ve been in the midst of moving. This also means that I haven’t been able to make any progress with my projects recently.
My diet program on Clickbank is still my #1 priority and I’m planning on dedicating September to it entirely.
Strangely enough, my last 3 sales for this product have been direct sales (no affiliate) - not sure why that is, or if it’s just a coincidence.

I’ve reached a new high for gravity for my diet Clickbank product: 6.24
OK, I realize that’s not mind blowing - but I am excited about the upturn in conversions since I modified my salesletter’s copy the other day.
There’s still a lot more I want to do to improve conversions but I’m feeling confident again about the long term prospects.
Start promoting it today: Earn $31 per sale.

Last night I made my first sale through my EZine Articles Experiment.
Check out the screen shot from my CB account made specifically for this experiment:

In other good news: Conversions with my Clickbank diet product are up overall. The last 2 days there have been 5 sales with just 240 unique visitors to the site. I’ll take a 1/48 conversion ratio, thank you very much. 3 of those sales have come from a brand new affiliate. I hope he keeps it up!

I was recently asked by someone on DP about which web host I recommend. The answer is HostMonster.com, why? Well I’ve had quite a bit of experience with some poor web hosting service. In fact there are 2 hosts that I used to work with that I no longer do because they were crap in that they either had crap service or BS hidden fees, or both! I’m currently hosing domains on 7 different shared accounts. All of them are at least decent, although one does give me substantial problems with being down quite often (I’d feel bad for naming them… but I also would feel bad if you choose them… well you can make sure you don’t choose them by choosing HostMonster I guess so… nevermind that) …
Anyway, while all 7 of them are at least decent as far as services and the no hidden fees thing goes, there has been one host that stands above the rest in my experience and that is of course HostMonster. How do they stand above?
#1 I’ve never experienced even a single second of down time with them (to my knowledge) in about 2 years of service and I’m now hosting 16 domains on my one account so they are getting put to the test. Downtime is a big deal when you’re in internet marketing. Down time is time you’re not making money!
#2 They have all of the services that are becoming standard now like unlimited domains and unlimited bandwidth and unlimited hard drive space. They’ve got email accounts, MySQL… just all of the crap you might need.
#3 No hidden fees. I already mentioned that, but it’s a big one. It’s truly annoying to get a bill from your web hosting copany for some BS like “too many files in your account.” And yes I really did get a charge like that once, it was only $10 but the it’s the principle of the matter. What a ridiculous charge.
#4 Buy domains with privacy included for just $10. I almost always buy my “privacy” for my domains and once you add the charge for privacy at GoDaddy, it’s about $18. So I’m saving about $8 for each domain I buy when I go through HostMonster.com instead.
#5 It’s cheap. Shared hosting is pretty cheap these days so this isn’t that big of a deal. But $6.95/month is pretty, pretty, pretty good as Larry David would say.

One month ago (on July 3) I posted my EZineArticles.com stats.
Today I’m doing it again:

I’m mostly interested in what the numbers have been during that one month period:
New Live Articles: 105
New Article Views: 18,975
New URL Clicks: 4,459
CTR: 23%
New Articles Published: 148
I’m quite pleased that the overall URL clicks per day is rising and that my CTR is rising. It’s worth noting that looking at CTR by itself can be somewhat misleading. It’s easy to get some really untargeted traffic and thus get a lot of views with no clicks sometimes (ie StumbleUpon traffic) which can lead to a low CTR but doesn’t really mean that the article has a bad resource box.
Plus the articles I had up that were not optimized well (before I learned to think about this aspect, I used to think of articles entirely for SEO purposes, not even considering direct traffic) are still getting views.
I’m not going to the trouble of looking at this specifically be I’m quite sure my CTR is close to 40% for the 105 new articles in my account since July 3.
So what are my goals for September 3? Well I’m moving this month so there will be some breaks in the work schedule - but I’m definitely hoping to better the 105. 200 seems like a reasonable goal at the moment. As you can see I’ve already got 25 pending articles ready to go and 1 “problem article” which is truly a bunch of bull, but I won’t get into that. Hopefully they’ll correct their problem and let that one go through.
Actually, what the hell, I will get into it. Basically they are saying I’m linking to an “affiliate link” when I’m not - I never do that in fact which makes it even more annoying - I submitted it twice hoping they’d realize their mistake the second time through. Nope. I’ve now contacted their support people about it. It really annoying when they flag your article no good reason.

Promote My Diet Product On Clickbank.
Why?
+ Earn $31 for each sale and possibly as much as $54 when I add the upsells.
+ I’m dedicated to helping affiliates make money with my product.
+ I will social bookmark any pages that you send me which promotes my product. (If it’s a review site it must be #1.)
+ I am creating a whole series of keyword targeted landing pages/sales letters for better conversion rates.
+ My product actually works so you can feel good about promoting it. (If you’re the ethical type that worries about such things.)
+ I’m going to be continually adding affiliate resources.
+ I’m running an aggressive banner campaign to get my brand name known.
