Almost every link to a product/website that’s on this site is an affiliate link. If you buy whatever it is that I’ve linked to, I get a commission. Of course if you know anything about internet marketing (which I assume you do, which is why you’re reading my blog) you already know that.
But unlike a lot of sites out there (including other sites that I run, so I’m not being holier than thou) this particular site is filled with my honest experiences with products that I actually use. When I find that a product/service is not particularly good then I end my affiliate relationship with them and I tell you guys about that (for example I found that LinkVana was overpriced and inefficient so I do not recommend it.)
The reason I’ve made this disclosure page (and I’m making disclosure pages like this on my other sites) is because of the new FTC guidelines (the link is to an interesting digital point discussion on this issue) which are being interpreted by folks to mean that we must let people know that we are affiliates and that our links are affiliate links.
Making a single disclosure page (which is linked to from every page on our sites) seems like the easiest way to deal with this issue, so that’s how I’m approaching it. Hopefully the FTC is OK with that, it’s hard to to be sure.
