Disclosure To Satisfy New FTC Guidelines
By admin on Nov 30, 2009 in Affiliate Marketing
I’ve created a disclosure page in hopes of satisfying the new FTC guidelines (which go into effect tomorrow.) I’m creating disclosure pages on most of my sites right now. I got a bit cute on this one because I know my readership here mostly knows how the game is played. On my sites not directed at the internet marketing world (which are about 90% of my sites) I’ve being more straightforward (using this tool to help generate the language used.)
One point I like to include in my disclosure is that affiliate links do not cost the customer any money. Which is, of course, absolutely true. All affiliate commissions are paid out of profits, the customer does not pay more to cover them. This is an important point to hammer home as consumers become more and more aware of affiliate marketing.
