BANS (BuildANicheStore.com) is an "out of the box" way to set up a niche ECommerce type store.

Basically the system uses eBay to populate your site with products. All you have to do is pick out a niche and build a store using your affiliate ID and get traffic to that store! You will have to be an eBay affiliate of course (go to CJ.com & sign up to eBay.)

Experimenting With Banner Advertising

Banner advertising is something I've never got around to trying. Until today. After a tip I read on the Digital Point Forums, I've decided to give 'em a try. Right now I'm working on some banner ads for Adult Friend Finder & some Leading Edge Cash products. I've had some good success with AFF and with LEC previously so I already know they convert, so now I'm testing to see how the banner ads work. I'm running these banner ads on the Black Label Ads system as AdWords is funky about adult related material. I'll let you know how it goes.

Later tonight I plan on trying some banners for some ClickBank products/landing pages and for Vilantae acne treatment on AdWords.

Yes it's Sunday, I should take a day off every once in awhile, yes? no?

Focusing On One Project At A Time

One of my biggest issues is the trouble I have with focusing on any one project for any length of time. I am always excited about a new idea and jumping into that! Now don't get me wrong, I've been a successful internet marketer. I've been able to work from home working for myself for almost 3 years now and I made over $10,000 last month BUT I know I could be far more successful if I had more focus.

Right now I am trying a new schedule where I focus on two projects per month. Yes my title is focus on ONE project and that would probably be even better but I am taking baby steps here.

Anyway, I'm finding that this is rather difficult for me because naturally I'm just jumping around from project to project every few moments! But I really do think this kind of focus will pay off in the end.

I'll certainly keep you updated as to how it effects my bottom line. What are my two focus projects currently? One is a music website and the other is an acne website. Two very different niches. Currently the music website is barely profitable (if at all.) and the acne website is bringing in about $500/month.

AdSense Experiments

I've been working recently on trying to up my AdSense earnings. As I've mentioned many times before I make the majority of my income through Affiliate Marketing and indeed affiliate marketing is my #1 recommend way of making money online. But, that being said, I know I can make more money than I am with AdSense so I'm trying to figure out how to do that.

Recently I've been experimenting with reducing the number of ads on my site. Not reducing the number of ad spots, I still try to have the full three AdSense boxes allowed on each page (along with 1 or 2 or even 3 link ad modules.) The difference is instead of using the big ones that have 4 or 5 ads I've been using the smaller ones with 1 or 2 ads. The theory being that this way less of my AdSense clicks will be for lower paying AdSense ads. In other words I'm trying to push my visitors towards the higher paying ads. It's also nice because it makes them blend in more with the site and makes them look less intrusive.

The other side of this of course is that with fewer ads to choose from and with the modules smaller I may get fewer clicks. I'm not sure if this is true or not yet.

I'll come back with an update when I get some more conclusive results on what AdSense strategy works best for me.

WordPress

I started out with blogging with blogger over a year ago and I spent quite a bit of time learning how to tweak the templates and all of that. But I've come to the conclusion that that was a bad mistake. I should have gone the WordPress route to begin with because blogger is very limited and it's also very very slow. It can be extremely frustrating trying to upload a new blog post or update my template with blogger because often it just hangs and hangs and then gives me some error message. This also happens almost every time these days with picture uploads.

Anyway I will probably be moving this blog over to WordPress at some point. In fact my next post may very well be on WordPress. But this particular blog is not a high priority for me as I've mentioned many times I'm not a "guru" who makes his money by telling other people how he makes his money (I like John Chow actually, but it's a good line that gets what I'm saying across) - I actually make money as an internet marketer. Not telling people how to be an internet marketer! Get the difference? Well that's why my internet marketing blog isn't at the top of my priorities. I don't make much money with this blog and I don't really try to (too hard.)

I have other blogs that are more important to my income that I'll be moving to WordPress before I get to this one. In fact I've already moved a few blogs over to WordPress and after some growing pains I'm really loving it. It's so much more flexible. It also just looks much better. You can do some really interesting innovative things with some of the more advanced WordPress themes. You can make sites that look more like CNN's than just another blog with WordPress.
