Stop Obsessing About The PageRank Toolbar
Unless you make a sizable portion of your income selling links you really shouldn't care that much about the PageRank toolbar.
PR is not how Google decides their SERPS. All you need to do is do a few searches for anything on Google to see that quite clearly.
While it is true that PR is important as far as how often your site gets cached by Google, you don't need to see the little green toolbar to know how often your site is being cached. Just check the cache a few times a week and you'll get a good idea of how often Google is coming to your site.
All the time you spend fretting about the PR update you could be spending creating quality content for your websites. Forget about the PR toolbar.
Now if you do sell links, yes, I can understand why you are so worried about the PR toolbar update. But Google also understands this. I would not be surprised at all if "putting the fear" into link sellers is a big part of their delay in updating the PR toolbar.
